Tools for a Healthier Mind

In order to have a healthier and fitter Mind it is useful to have tools to keep the mind healthy. These help us move out of the comfort zone and discover all the resources that are available.

The function of hypnotherapy is to help us relax and let go of the limitations we feel when we are attached to the primitive mind. The primitive mind is our fight, flight, freeze centre. When we are attached to the primitive mind our attention is taken up with anxiety, depression or anger, or even a combination of all three.

When we feel all those emotions we haven’t the time to stop and think because we think we are in danger. Consequently we can’t see the wood for the trees.

This section on tools is a supplement to hypnotherapy and the blogs. It provides simple tools and strategies for accessing your potential and letting go of primitive mind attachment.

The metaphor of a gardener is useful to explain how to have a healthy and fit mind. We need to look after our minds, feed them nutrients and remove any weeds.

Have fun exploring these tools and strategies..

Discover your Resilience and a Healthier Mind

This is a cartoon picture of a superhero. In this case it is represented by a boy but it could be any pronoun. The figure is wearing a red all in one body suit with golden over pants and golden boots. The superhero is fair skinned and is wearing red glasses and has blond hair. The background of the picture is a kaleidoscope of colours red, light blue, purple, green, orange. There is a jagged voice bubble with the words resilient. The purpose of this picture is to encourage the clients to read a leaflet on resilience and healthier minds.

In addition to the above presentation, one of the ingredients of a healthier mind is resilience, or bounce-ability. With bounce-ability being the ability to get up after we’ve suffered a set back.

Given that resilience is important for a healthier mind, download the resilience factsheet to find out more about it, what exactly resilience is and how to build your personal resilience

Developing Resilience - A presentation

In this presentation you will discover how a SCARF, a Thumb Trap and CO2 can help you develop more resilience. It will show you how to take control in challenging situations. You will learn about the causes of anxiety, stress and worry. The triggers that cause us to react in an unhelpful un-resilient way – i.e. David Rock’s SCARF model.

You will also learn about how the – Think –> Feel –> Behave – cycle works, how by taking control of that cycle you can develop resilience.

A presentation on the solution focused hypnotherapy process.

The picture is of three horizontal black boards of wood that are slotted together. On the boards is are light blocks of wood with black letters on it. The letters spell Hypnotherapy. The letters have the appearance of scrabble tiles. The purpose of the picture is to introduce a tool for hypnotherapy, i.e. a presentation around solution focused hypnotherapy. It helps clients achieve a Healthier mind

Firstly to support the introduction, this presentation explains the brain and the two minds it contains. I share it with my clients during their initial consultation.

It talks about  Solution Focused Hypnotherapy and about some of its strategies. These strategies help us over come anxiety, depression, anger and associated unhelpful feelings and behaviours such as OCD, phobias and more.
