How It Actually Works

Anxiety and depression don’t create your problems — they obscure your natural ability to solve them. Solution Focused Hypnotherapy works with your biology to raise serotonin, reconnecting you with the clarity, creativity and resourcefulness that were always there.

Here’s what I truly believe: you already have the power and the insights to make the changes you want. They haven’t gone anywhere. They’ve simply been hidden under the weight of how you’ve been feeling.

My role is to provide the space, the focus and the strategies. But the real change, the lasting, life-shifting change, happens when you take ownership of it. When you recognise that this is your journey, your mind, your life. And that you are more capable than you’ve been giving yourself credit for.

And here’s the part I find genuinely exciting. Change doesn’t have to be heavy or serious. What if you approached it as an adventure? An experiment. A curious exploration of what’s possible when you start working with yourself rather than against yourself.

Hi, I’m Andy Brzozowski — the hypnotherapist at ACT Hypnotherapy Swindon.

I’m a scientist by training, with 30+ years in that field. That same curiosity drew me to understanding the human mind — and what I found changed everything for me. My real vocation now, is helping people live the life they want and deserve.

I speak as someone who has been there. As an end user of this work myself, I know the power of hypnosis, EFT and Mindfulness.  I know that small, purposeful steps towards what you want, not giant leaps, just consistent movement in the right direction is where real change happens.

The difference between Solution Focused Hypnotherapy and other types of hypnotherapy?

Solution focused hypnotherapy is focused on the future, on “what would you rather have?”, on goals and on a more generalised positive mindset. It does not look back to past problems, traumas or unpleasant memories. It’s a solution focused and not a problem focused mindset. Other hypnotherapies that are more analytical, e.g. regression hypnotherapy, have their focus on the problem and events back in the past.

I chose solution focused hypnotherapy because I feel that its better to build a more compelling positive future than revisit the past. However both strategies have their merits.

Can the therapist make me do anything I don’t want to do?

Absolutely NO! You are always in control. The hypnosis helps you achieve what you want to achieve. Through trance you access your natural abilities to make change happen. The therapist is just a guide than rather than an actively participating in the process. Therefore they manage the process, while you relax, let go and do your thing, make the changes that are right for you. Remember you are the client, you are in control!

How many solution focused hypnotherapy sessions will it take?

Solutioned focused hypnotherapy is considered to be a brief therapy and is hugely effective in a short time frame. The number of sessions depends on the client and what issues they bring with them ( it can be between 8 to 12 more or less). With the one exception being smoking cessation. Smoking cessation is a one off 1.5 to 2hr session.

What can I expect from a hypnotherapy session?

There is an initial free consultation during which I gather relevant information, answer any questions, and do an explanation of how the brain works. The explanation of how the brain works is there to give an understanding of what we’ll be doing during the sessions and why? Think of the “How the brain works” as a road map. If you know the route it makes the finding of the destination so much easier. Once we agree to enter into the therapy we will book a time and begin the journey.

A typical session takes 1 hr. The first 30 minutes is the talking solution focused therapeutic part followed by a 25 min hypnosis session.
