Hi, my name is Andrzej (Andy) Brzozowski I am the hypnotherapist at ACT Hypnotherapy Swindon. I am a scientist by training, with 30+ years in that field. However my real vocation and passion is in helping people live the life they want. So that you the client are not limited by Anxiety, Anger, Depression, Phobias, Fear of Flying , Overwhelm etc. I do this through hypnotherapy, NLP, the Sedona Method and many more strategies.

Andy Brzozowski Hypnotherapy approach

I chose to practice solution focused hypnotherapy (SFHT) rather than other forms of hypnotherapy, because whilst it acknowledges past events (i.e. traumas, unpleasant memories) it is forward focused. The strategy focuses on what you want (i.e. solutions) rather than what you do not want (problems). I find this approach effective as it focuses towards a more positive future rather than a past which may contain unpleasant memories.

The SFHT approach helps you the client, uncover your own resources, creativity and natural solution finding capabilities. So that you can come up with your own answers to your own questions.

SFHT is a tried and clinically tested approach to safe, gentle and powerful therapy, that works with how you work. It uses your evolutionary psychology and biology to help you increase the levels of the wellbeing neurotransmitter serotonin. Appropriate levels of serotonin make you feel better and make available your natural capabilities to find solutions. Capabilities which were obscured when in the anxious, depressed, low self-esteem mindsets.

Complementing SFHT are other strategies which I us to support change, e.g. NLP, the Sedona method. These strategies help the hypnotherapy process by adding another dimension to helping let go of unhelpful emotions such as anxiety, anger and depression.

Frequently Asked Questions

Solution focused hypnotherapy is focused on the future, on “what would you rather have?”, on goals and on a more generalised positive mindset. It does not look back to past problems, traumas or unpleasant memories. It’s a solution focused and not a problem focused mindset. Other hypnotherapies that are more analytical, e.g. regression hypnotherapy, have their focus on the problem and events back in the past.

I chose solution focused hypnotherapy because I feel that its better to build a more compelling positive future than revisit the past. However both strategies have their merits.

Absolutely NO! You are always in control. The hypnosis helps you achieve what you want to achieve. Through trance you access your natural abilities to make change happen. The therapist is just a guide than rather than an actively participating in the process. Therefore they manage the process, while you relax, let go and do your thing, make the changes that are right for you. Remember you are the client, you are in control!

Solutioned focused hypnotherapy is considered to be a brief therapy and is hugely effective in a short time frame. The number of sessions depends on the client and what issues they bring with them ( it can be between 8 to 12 more or less). With the one exception being smoking cessation. Smoking cessation is a one off 1.5 to 2hr session.

There is an initial free consultation during which I gather relevant information, answer any questions, and do an explanation of how the brain works. The explanation of how the brain works is there to give an understanding of what we’ll be doing during the sessions and why? Think of the “How the brain works” as a road map. If you know the route it makes the finding of the destination so much easier. Once we agree to enter into the therapy we will book a time and begin the journey.

A typical session takes 1 hr. The first 30 minutes is the talking solution focused therapeutic part followed by a 25 min hypnosis session.
